About the event
Learn the symbolism of a shamanic drum, how to play solo, with others and how to journey using the drum. We end the evening with a guided journey to tend to our personal garden.
Cultivating a relationship with the drum can provide many benefits to your life. We connect and associate the drum to the first sound we hear, the beating of our mother's heart. We instinctively are drawn and calmed by this rhythm and vibration. Once the relationship has been established, we can work with the drum on our own, allowing this beautiful ally to guide us along our journey.
The main intention of this workshop is to walk away having an understanding of the benefits of being able to cultivate a relationship with a Shamanic drum in order to achieve a deeper level of consciousness.
Meaning, that once a relationship is formed with your drum, using the beating of a drum and our imagination, we can enter into a meditative state and journey to places that can provide a deeper level of healing or understanding.
This workshop is for all levels of experience. From holding a Shamanic drum for the first time to a master journeyer. We have a few drums that can be borrowed or you can purchase your own online (Amazon overnight a Remo 14 or 16 inch hand drum). It will be light on discussion with the main portion of the time focusing on creating a relationship with the drum through action.
Once we have established our individual rhythm, we will sync the group up as one beat with one intention. This intention will be decided by the group at that time. For example, to raise the frequency of a space. We will then take a few minutes to share about what that process felt like and if anyone received any helful information. Afterwards we will discuss where to go from here, how to integrate this new tool into our daily lives.
For those interested in taking it one step further, I'll talk briefly about Shamanism Without Borders and the monthly free gatherings that will take place here on the island.
Shamanism Without Borders (SWB) is a global response network of the Society for Shamanic Practice, tending to traumatic events around the world. Facilitated by a Shamanic Practitioner, we journey to energetically tend to natural disasters, acts of terrorism, war, pollution, and anything that causes disruption and suffering to humanity, to the animal and plant life, and to the earth’s delicate bio-system.
